Welcome to the Glasbern Inn, the Lehigh Valley's best-kept lodging secret. Tucked away on 130 acres in Fogelsville, PA; our bed & breakfast features on-site spa treatments, a working farm, and gorgeous event venues.

The history of the Glasbern dates back to 1787, when the original tract of land was warranted to Melchoir Siep. The property passed through the hands of Rosa and Elmer Shoemaker; and then William Kirschner, until Kirschner’s death in 1971. The property remained vacant until 1985, when Al and Beth Granger purchased it and began renovating it into an inn. Since the south side of the barn was all glass, Beth came up with “Glasbern,” old English for glass barn. The first guests arrived in December 1985.

Many of the original buildings remain today and have been meticulously renovated to accommodate visitors. The original tractor shed is now the warm and inviting Carriage House. The Garden Cottage, the last of the original outbuildings, was made ready for guests in 1995. Behind the Main Barn, the grounds developed gradually from open space to a large framed tractor shed built which was against an earthen wall. This facility is now our Lodge which houses our conference rooms and social banquet rooms. Perched on the hillside above the Stables you will find the Pack House, which is a marriage of two unique barns which now house 12 guestrooms and a private conference room.

Every guest accommodation at the Glasbern Inn is unique. Our Standard Rooms are ideal for business travelers or those who are just passing through. We're sure you'll agree, though—there's nothing standard about these accommodations. You'll enjoy an iPod dock, a flat screen Cable TV, a Keurig coffeemaker, and a plush Sleep Number bed. Some standard rooms even feature Fireplaces and/or Whirlpools.

Many of these accommodations feature two levels; and several feature refrigerators, sunrooms, additional TV/DVD players, and decks/patios. All Suites at the Glasbern are equipped with Whirlpools and Fireplaces. No matter what accommodation you select, you'll enjoy a gourmet complimentary breakfast in our Lodge, served from 7:00am-9:30am during the week and from 8:00am-10:30am on the weekends.

Pasture-to-Plate Cuisine Inspired by Our Onsite Farm

In 2005, we started farming at Glasbern. Rather, we started farming again, reviving an excellent parcel of farmland that had laid fallow for about 35 years. This provided the acreage which has gradually been transformed to organic pastures. This land supports our grass-fed Scottish Highland / Devon cross herd of cattle and our flock of Katahdin Sheep. In season, our broiler hens are raised on pasture and the egg mobile is moved throughout the pastures to allow the hens to graze. Greenhouses and a garden provide much of the produce for the kitchen.

During the week at the Glasbern Inn, diners can enjoy a la carte dining for lunch and dinner. Selections such as Day Boat Scallops with Baby Arugula and Compressed Pineapple and House Pasta with English Pea Agnolotti and Curry Cloud showcase the bounty of the Lehigh Valley. On Saturday evenings, the Glasbern offers a Prix Fixe menu, with seatings running from 5:00pm to 8:30pm.

For a more casual option, guests can gather at Harvest Gastropub. Serving small plates, sandwiches, and a handful of comforting large plates; Harvest provides the same high-caliber cuisine as the Glasbern's dining room, but in a more casual setting. Enjoy Steak Frites, Beef Stew, or a "Piggie Board" of farm-raised pork. Harvest offers a bounty of cocktails, fine wines, and microbrews. Beverage service is available from 5:30-10:30pm, while dinner seatings are available from 5:30-8:30pm.
