Description:
Steamboat Springs, Colorado has truly earned the moniker "Ski Town USAÌÎÌàåÌ¥."  The Steamboat Ski & Resort offers exciting activities and gorgeous lodgings that are influenced by the area's western ranching and mountaineering culture.  Of course, the ski slopes' legendary Champagne PowderÌÎÌàå_ is also a popular attraction.  Nestled at 7,000 feet, Steamboat boasts 6 peaks, approximately 3,000 acres of ski/snowboard terrain, and a network of 19 hiking/biking trails that spans 50 miles.  Whether you're a seasoned veteran of extreme terrain or a novice ski bunny (or even if you don't ski at all), you're sure to find plenty to see and do at our world-renowned resort.

In the summer, Steamboat features fishing, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, mountain climbing, hot air ballooning, and ATV tours.  If you're not the outdoorsy type, then consider patronizing one of Steamboat's five-star restaurants, unique boutiques, or rejuvenating spas.  Special events such as the New Year's Eve Torchlight Parades & Fireworks (sponsored by Sprint), Wild West Air Fest, and the Mountain Block Party also provide fun and excitement year round.  Steamboat boasts lodgings to fit every style and budget- from family-friendly hotels to romantic bed and breakfasts.

Skiing and Snowboarding

The signature attraction at Steamboat is its unparalleled slopes.  Mount Werner, Sunshine Peak, Storm Peak, Thunderhead Peak, Pioneer Ridge and Christie Peak comprise Steamboat's mountain range.  Of course, skiing and snowboarding are available in all forms- from cross-country and downhill to backcountry and heli.  One hundred and sixty-five (165) trails are available, and Steamboat provides a great range of options for all levels- 14% of trails are Beginner, 42% are Intermediate, and 44% are Advanced.

If you're a novice to the mountains, then let a premier instructor from the Steamboat Ski School help guide you along the mountain.  The best way to ski like a champion is to learn from one, and at Steamboat, our high standards ensure that you'll be confidently navigating our peaks in no time.  Childcare  is also available if you need some time away from the little ones while you work on your skills.  Packages and private lessons are available in the following categories:

If you already know how to shred up the snow, then you'll enjoy Mavericks Superpipe, which is a freerider's dream. Mavericks is 450 feet long, 56-feet wide and has 18-foot walls, and a 22-foot transition. Steamboat's terrain park adjacent to Mavericks features an outdoor sound system, a variety of rails; kinked, sliders, rainbows, "s" mailboxes, and double barrel.  Novice riders flock to Mini-Mav, a miniature version of the superpipe with eight-foot walls.

Year-Round Recreation and Outdoor Activities

Besides skiing and snowboarding, Steamboat offers a cornucopia of winter recreation opportunities for those who are less mountain-oriented.  Ice skating, sleigh rides, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing are popular options.  Consider learning about your western surroundings by taking a guided nature tour, our splurge on a scenic glider flight high above the Tetons.  Of course, no trip to Steamboat is complete without a trip to the city's legendary natural hot springs, which having been rejuvenating visitors for centuries.

When the snow melts, travelers have a bevy of warm-weather activities from which to choose.  Explore your love for wildlife by taking a horseback or llama ride, or visiting the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo.  Steamboat's rivers and lakes offer plenty of opportunities for fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and whitewater rafting.  Steamboat also has several golf courses and tennis courts, with the Rocky Mountains providing an unbelievably scenic backdrop.

Our unique Heavy Equipment Play Area allows adults to live our their Tonka Truck-operating dreams; while Steamboat's Coca Cola Adventure Zone offers a ropes course, bounce house, and other activities that kids are sure to like.  Whatever your tastes, whatever the season, Steamboat's awe-inspiring mountain peaks are sure to stimulate your appetite for recreation and adventure.

World-Class Dining

The cuisine of the Old West is the name of the game in Steamboat.  Vacationers will be pleased to note that Colorado dining has come a long way since the days of cowboys roasting wild game while on a cattle drive.  In fact, upscale chop houses and locally-inspired spa cuisine are some of the most buzzworthy options in our scenic Rocky Mountain town.

Take in mountain views at Hazie's, a fine dining establishment located at the top of the Gondola.  Hazie's serves upscale three-course meals as well as a delectable Sunday brunch buffet.  The Steamboat Grand Hotel & Resort also offers a variety of apres-ski options; such as Chaps Bar & Grill, which offers a variety of beers and several large-screen TVs, and The Cabin, which serves mouthwatering steaks, chops, and seafood.

During the summer, Martini Fest (August), Mountain Block Party! (Fridays), and the Steamboat Wine Festival are great options for foodies.  If you're looking to add some adventure to your dinner, then consider booking one of our Guided Gourmet Hikes
